Minor in Literature

The Minor in Literature enables students to engage with written texts of artistic or cultural merit. An appreciation of literature broadens the student's understanding of human motivations across time and tradition, resulting in a deeper understanding of social life.

The Minor requires completion of FIVE courses.

Complete the following:

LIT 230 Introduction to Literature

 

Choose FOUR of the following:

LIT 320 American Literature
LIT 325 Special Topics in Literature
LIT 340 Contemporary Literature
LIT 355 Poetry
LIT 378 Science Fiction
LIT 386 Literature and Nature

 

One of those FOUR courses can include ONE of the following HSS Senior Seminars (HSS 404):

HSS 404 How Legends Become Myths: A Journey Through Classic Greek Literature
HSS 404 Speculative Technologies in Science Fiction
HSS 404 Climate Change in Fiction
HSS 404 Electronic Literature
