Like many other universities in the United States and Canada, NJIT provides training for international teaching assistants in teaching methods and in English communication in teaching situations.
This year's workshop will take place at NJIT (on campus) on Monday, August 26th; Tuesday, August 27th; and Thursday, August 29. The workshop does not meet on Wednesday, August 28th; there is another event scheduled for TA's on that day.

All international students entering NJIT with a TA award in Fall 2024 or already at NJIT and starting as a TA in Spring or Fall 2024 at NJIT are required to participate in the NJIT Teaching and Communication Skills Workshop. Participants are required to attend all three days of the workshop.
Your position as a TA may include being an instructor in a course, a laboratory or recitation section leader, a tutor, or a grader. This workshop is intended to help international teaching assistants succeed in carrying out the responsibilities associated with their award.
It is recommended, though not required, that all international students entering NJIT in Fall 2024 with an RA award attend the workshop since they also require a high level of English communication skills.
The workshop includes a required assessment of TAs' spoken English. Additional details on the workshop and assessment will be available shortly.
